Thank you Dr. Penguin for your video. In veterinary medicine we have been a bit ahead of human medicine for once. Some 15 years ago at UC Davis stem cells marked with radionuclide were implanted in dogs’ knees and when check for radioluminiscence the majority had died short after. In my patients routinely I injected stem cells, Hyaluronic Acid and PRP. Needles to say there was a marked improvement, however the number of patients around 50 is too small as being taken as significant.

Hi Dr Jeffrey, I have been following your vid’s for a few months and thank you for sharing your experience and advice. I was informed by my surgeon to come back when I decided on a knee replacement. My dental hygienist, a skier, who recommended PRP and your videos encouraged me to give it a try. I have had 4 injections and after the first two almost all pain had reduced. I am holding out for the sixth week after my final injection to see if it has worked (my doctor said it takes 6 weeks for each injection to activate) i am in Australia and I wish that we had someone like you who we could visit down here! Best wishes, Michael PS I was surprised that the injections do not hurt either!

Another excellent video that I have booked marked. I am 60 years old and 10 months into a complex meniscus tear that is slooowly getting better I think. Very little signs of OA and two doctors have stated I am a candidate for a meniscus knee scope. It's tough to commit when I have no loss of range of motion, just pain and discomfit. I can do anything but just not for long. One question I have, should you include a good hamstring strengthening exercise to prevent muscle imbalance?

The gripping really made the pain in the outer elbow flare up. So does picking up objects like a frying pan or kettle. It’s been going on like this for a year, mostly in the dominant left arm but also in the right arm but much less painful.

Thanks Dr. Peng. You really explain the what and why of these injections clearly. I've had many HA shots in both knees and also had allergic reactions after several times. My Dr. switched to gel 1 which was ok but administration was always hit or miss, especially when he started letting the assistant do the administration. Eventually, I gave up on him and the treatments. My condition has probably advanced at this point where replacement is the best choice.

I had a PRP injection years ago for a hip labral tear. It worked wonders for 2 years. After 2 years, locking symptoms returned, my images then showed labral tear again along with early onset of osteoarthritis. It has now been recommended, and I am scheduled for adipose harvesting and injection. Are there any risks/complications associated with this? I have heard that fat embolism could be a risk, is that true at all?

The week before Christmas I broke my heel while baking Christmas cookies. Finally had an mri in January to discover my Achilles tendon was torn in two places. One tear was almost completely separated. Doctor had two options. First option was a surgery while lying on my stomach. Second choice was PRP therapy. I chose option two. I didn't have any pain during this treatment. At eight week recheck foot doctor said it was healed. Because UF hospital in Jacksonville, Florida does so many of these treatments it was only $500.00.

What if the pain and limited movement only takes place behind the body? When I try and put my right hand between my shoulder blades, I cannot. I can with my left. It causes pain, weirdly, in the side of my shoulder. A dull ache, or a sharp pain, that can take a day or so to go away if I stretch it enough. I'm 71 yrs and understanding that the growth factors in my PRP are diminished. I was recently diagnosed with OA of the knee. A few years back I had PRP therapy for my shoulder and had no improvement after 12 weeks. My sports medicine doctor suggested a growth factor injection which completely relieved my shoulder pain and have had no problems after 3 yrs. It's difficult to consider PRP for my knee when it was ineffective for my shoulder. Interesting that Medicare pulled their approval of growth factor injections.
